BC Strawberries Voiceover Commercial
BC Strawberries was the very first Voiceover Commercial that Dawson produced in term 1 at BCIT in the Sound Design Class. The professor, Dan Motut, provided the class a great example as he brought the students into the studios in the BCIT Broadcast Center at SE 10 and did it himself before the rest of the first year students sat in front of the microphone to experience it themselves.
After the class completed the Voiceover, they then had to edit their recording on Adobe Audition to make sure the recording didn’t have any breathing sounds in between lines, no ‘Popping P’s and that the students start and stops throughout sentences were consistent in pacing.
The commercial was set to 30 seconds long, that means not 1 second over or early.
Overall, it was a great experience for Dawson, “I had a blast”

Vancouver Canadians Voiceover Commercial
Dawson got his first taste of a sports based voiceover commercial in mid October and that being for the Vancouver Canadians Professional High A Affiliate Baseball team of the Toronto Blue Jays.
In this commercial, Dawson experienced more voiceover experience and added in some cool music and sound effects to make the commercial more engaging. The students use Adobe Audition (same for voiceovers) to embed music and sound effects into the commercial.

Here is a picture of the exact script that Dawson read off of to create the commercial from up top.
McFarlane is an avid Baseball, and Canadians fan and has attended one game this past summer and when he found out that he would be doing a voiceover commercial for the Vancouver Canadians, he was so stoked to get going.
Valley View Automotive Voiceover Commercial
Valley View Automotive is another voiceover commercial that Dawson and the rest of the 2025-26 first year Radio Arts & Entertainment students worked on in SE 10 (Broadcast Center) at BCIT. Valley View Automotive provided a different approach for Dawson as he isn’t the biggest car guy. “It was cool to work on my craft in a different perspective” he explained as he continues his journey with broadcasting and expanding his portfolio with these wide range of commercials.
